Credera’s Signature Capture on the Salesforce AppExchange for Components is now even more powerful.
Credera’s free Lightning Component allows users to capture a signature via a browser or mobile device, using an HTML5 canvas. It stores the captured signature as an attachment against a Salesforce record.
With the latest update, you now also have the option of saving the signature as a Salesforce File. Some users requested this option, but it will become essential over time. That’s because attachments are being deprecated in Lightning Experience, and already do not return in Searches.
The new version of the tool is available through the AppExchange. Existing users looking to benefit just need to update and add the attribute to their component.

Signature Capture is a pure HTML5 native Lightning Component. It allows users and customers to draw their signature in an area of a web page associated with a Salesforce record.
This process can be repeated until the signer is happy that the captured image is an accurate representation of their signature. Then they simply click a button to save it.
The tool then converts the signature into an image file and uploads it to Salesforce. There it is stored as an attachment against the Salesforce record named ‘Signature.png’ – or now, saved as a Salesforce file.
Signature Capture is available as a managed package, and does not rely on any third party JavaScript. The App Exchange listing includes a full implementation guide with example markup, and the package contains a demonstration application.
